A visit to Flor&Fjære begins with a pleasant boat trip. Upon arrival to the island, our guides are ready to show you the beauty of the gardens, before dinner is served in the jungle.

New departure quay
All departures to Flor&Fjære leave from Bekhuskaien, near Fiskepirterminalen (the boat terminal) in Stavanger.

Chef André Mulder is inspired by the whole world, and focuses on pure, natural flavors from the best local ingredients.
The gardens
Our incredible gardens cover 50000m2 (12.5 acres). Every spring we plant 50000 colorful annuals, ready to welcome you.
Jungle restaurant
In 2022 we opened our greenhouse jungle restaurant! Where we can seat up to 600 garden-loving guests.
The beach bar
Our cute, mint green beach bar is open on sunny days. Come get a refreshing drink after your meal!

At our newly renovated farmhouse at Hidlefjord Gård, Flor&Fjære serves food and wine of the highest quality for small, exclusive groups. Food cooked over open fire and with respect for nature.
From windswept islets to colorful oasis
A visit to Flor&Fjære is a visit to our family garden.
Built with passion over three generations, our garden has grown from a windswept homestead to a colorful oasis – where we love to welcome guests!
It all started in 1965. Åsmund and Else Marie Bryn bought a windswept homestead on Sør-Hidle, where they built a family cabin and planted a cottage garden.
During the 80’s and early 90’s, the small, exotic garden grew and became popular. Before long, guests needed refreshments, and in 1995 Olav and Siri Bryn established Flor&Fjære restaurant and gardens.
Now it’s the 3rd generation, Endre Bryn Hidlefjord, and his wife Hanne Kvernberg Hidlefjord that are in charge, and they are well underway with new plans and expansions.

Flor&Fjære is a privately owned family property, open for pre-booked visits during the summer months
Departure times vary from day to day – available departure times Monday to Saturday for individuals and small groups can be found in our booking calendar.

All visits must be booked in advance.
Can we just visit the gardens?
Flor&Fjære is a total package experience. It is not possible to only visit the gardens. Our gardens would not exist without the restaurant and garden tour – and vice versa. We want every one of our guests to experience the unique combination of boat trip, family-hosted garden tours, breathtaking landscapes (gardens) and honest, good food.
When and where does the boat depart?
We have regular daytime and evening departures, Monday to Saturday, from Bekhuskaien in Stavanger. View available departures in our online booking calendar. You will be registered by name as you embark on the boat. The boat trip takes approximately 20 minutes.
How long is the total trip?
It takes just short of 5 hours from departure to your return in Stavanger, including the garden tour and meal.
I have food allergies. What now?
View this year’s menu here. If you have a food allergy, intolerance or dietary restriction, please note this during booking.
Do you have a wheelchair we can borrow?
We do not have available wheelchairs for our guests. You need to bring your own wheelchair or walker. However, our property is very accessible for wheelchairs, strollers, etc. Our paths are all paved with cobblestones. The boat is also accessible for wheelchairs.
Can we arrive in our own boat?
You may arrive in your own boat, but advance booking is necessary and please register information about the boat during booking. The price is the same should you choose to take your own boat.
Can we have a private function?
We offer private dining rooms for up to 600 guests. The minimum price is equivalent to 25 persons. Please view our special events page for information and enquiries.
May I bring my dog?
All 4-legged friends are welcome on a leash, and if they can relax, tethered outside in the garden during your meal. Dogs cannot enter the restaurant with the exception of service dogs. If your dog is likely to bark when left alone, please leave your dog at home.
