The 2014 Jeep Cherokee has been chosen by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) as the Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year.

The 2014 Cherokee beat out the Acura MDX and the Kia Sorento to take the top award, while to qualify, the Cherokee had to overcome the Toyota Rav4 and Subaru Forester for its title as best new CUV/SUV under $35,000.

Every year, AJAC gathers at an event known as ‘Test Fest’ to evaluate every single new or significantly improved vehicle back to back. Over 80 journalists score each vehicle based on a number of criteria, from safety features to cargo capacity, and the points decide the winner.
