Galleria Supermarket in Thornhill has become a bit of a safety net for me, especially on statutory holidays - they were even open on Christmas Day! It's comforting to know there's a place that's got your back for those last-minute ingredient runs or when you just need a meal on the go.
Their range of processed and packaged products is pretty reliable. The display looks clean and the store is well lit and arranged. But, a heads-up on their fresh produce, meats, and seafood - it's a bit of a gamble in terms of quality and freshness. Be especially wary of the things on sale.
In terms of pricing, they do tend to be slightly higher than other Korean markets in the area. Not too steep, but noticeable.
The staff are generally friendly and helpful. There can be a language barrier at times, but they're usually quick to find someone who can assist. All in all, Galleria Supermarket is a dependable option, just with a couple of caveats.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 27318676865Aug 16, 2021
My first trip to Galleria! It's definitely a hot destination so the smaller parking lot is definitely a little difficult to navigate and we did have to wait for parking. The entry has automatic doors and the gate within is currently tied back so you don't have to touch it. There is hand sanitizer at the entry and there's a sign at the baskets letting customers know they are sanitized.
For a grocery store on the smaller side of things, they have a lot of bulk buying choices which was very impressive. Corn by the bushel, cucumbers by the box, seaweed in huge packages! There's a fresh seafood section with live fish and lobsters. They have ready made food to go including sushi, fried chicken, Korean street food snacks, and kimbap. There's also packaged food that's ready to cook like meats ready for shabu-shabu or ramen kits.
There is a food court within Galleria and some seating in that area for you to consume your goods. Around this area are also other little shops. I saw a clothing store and a beauty goods one. Towards the exit is the bakery section which has its own check-out that is separate from the main grocery area. They have buns and fancier cakes that seem perfect for special occasions.Helpful 22Thanks 0Love this 24Oh no 0 - Oct 30, 2021
This is the smaller Galleria but I still find it 80% equipped despite its size. Bonus is that it is opened 24 hours! We came for a stroll after supper yesterday and happy to have scored some after 9 pm deals- some of the bakery items can be found inside the supermarket with a 20% discount.
The bakery closes at 9, but you can pay for what you like (except for the cakes in the display) at the grocery checkout.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Aug 19, 2021
This location does get quite busy and turning left into the parking lot takes some patience and nice drivers letting you through from the other direction. Finding a parking spot also takes some patience. We were lucky that a couple of people were leaving when we got there.
There's 2 other smaller Korean grocery stores in the area but seeing as this one is larger one there's more selection. The meat section has the typical cuts of meat and also thinly sliced meat perfect for hotpot as well as beef bones for making soup. The seafood section includes fresh and frozen items. My favourite part of the supermarket could be the prepared foods. There's fried chicken in buckets, kimbap, spicy rice cakes, the popular Korean hot dogs, a variety of side dishes, pancakes and more. Closer to the cash registers there's a stand that makes carp bread (Bungeo-ppang - the fish-shaped pastry filled with red bean paste). They sell them individually or in packs of 3 or 6. There was a line of a few people deep when we were there so maybe next time we'll get some.
After the cash registers there's a food court, clothing and cosmetics stores and a bakery that I believe are not affiliated with Galleria.Helpful 10Thanks 0Love this 10Oh no 0 - Oct 24, 2021
Always very crowded, but always fully stocked.
Would be nice if the isles can be a bit widerHelpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - May 21, 2021
I absolutely love Galleria, and one that is 24/7?! Even better!
Their selection is amazing and packed with good things that cannot be found elsewhere OR is typically at a better price. For example, I was able to find the entire collection of Buldak carbonara products here; including the frozen fried rice, dumplings, instant noodles (original carbonara and creamy!) in packs and cup noodle form, instant toppoki, carbonara sauce, and I've also heard through the grape vines that they carry the spicy mayo as well.
They also have a cute bakery section near the cash registers that carries cakes, buns, and other goods. I love the presentation aspect of this section.
Service and friendly, as well as efficient. Employees can be seen working around the clock stocking to keep shelves full and they're willing to help locate items as well.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 17, 2022
Love galleria, super convenient for the late night snack hunts, stocked with many Korean ingredients to make a hearty meal and best of all it's 24hrs.
This location isn't my favorite, I find the don mills/York Mills one my favorite as it's fairly newer and cleaner. Both locations have super friendly and nice staff working and their hot food items are pretty consistent.
My only wish is if the aisles could be a bit more wider because when it gets busy in there, moving around becomes a bit uncomfortable.
Great selection on imported products /ingredients and are generally a bit less expensive than the smaller express locations. I usually am able to find what I need to make Korean dishes!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Lawson L.North York, Toronto, ON155636Nov 30, 2021
We love grocery shopping here. It could get crowded at times with the right isles but we usually come here early in the day or during weekdays to avoid rushes. Lots of quality asian products and an amazing prepared food section.
We usually come here for kimbap as a quick cheap snack. So worth.
Good amount of parking.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
