UCC Canada150 Youth Community Animator

Are you a Ukrainian Canadian with a passion for our community? Are you excited about sharing your culture, engaging with volunteers, and working with youth across the country?

To celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation, the Ukrainian Canadian Congress will work with our member organizations and community across the country to organize youth-led and driven Canada 150 celebratory events.

Community animators will organize events (cultural, entertainment, sport, etc.) and work in partnership with youth from other ethnocultural, linguistic backgrounds as well as Indigenous communities in Ontario,Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.

Working with the Ukrainian Canadian community, you will partner with Canada’s ethnocultural, linguistic and Indigenous communities to promote our shared heritage. Some of your responsibilities will include: choosing locations and events to explore, setting up and conducting interviews, shooting and editing video, writing stories and contributing to a nationwide blog, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with high-quality content that shows off the best of our diverse and inclusive Ukrainian Canadian community. You will need to be able to work well independently, since you will spend a lot of time creating programming and traveling to capture the events in your local community.

Key competencies and abilities required:
Demonstrated experience in leadership, event organizing, public speaking and social animation.

Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required, and ability to travel within province.
A valid driver’s license is required; access to a vehicle would be an asset.
